Set in 1887, Brittany, France. Felicie (Fanning) has dreamed of becoming a world class ballerina her whole life, mistreated in her orphanage she plans to escape one night with best friend Victor (Dehaan) who promises to take her to Paris to the Grand Opera House. Their arrival to Paris isn't as friendly as they first think, Felicie finds herself alone and stranded in Paris. However things soon begin to change when she finds herself introduced to the Director of the Grand Opera House, who believes her to be ballerina Camille. Felicie must prove herself worthy of becoming a world famous ballerina.

Beautifully written, the storyline will capture the imaginations of children and adults everywhere. The story focuses on the importance of reaching for our dreams, persevering with our gifts, our talents. The importance of friendship and kindness. Elle Fanning delivers a charming and heartwarming performance as wannabe dancer Felicie, her soft and delicate voice works beautifully alongside her character and the animation. Together with her friend Victor they head to the stunning city of Paris. Felicie's best friend Victor, played fantastically by Dane Dehaan really teaches us the importance of friendship and trust. The storyline beautifully focuses on the romance and elegance of Paris.

On her journey through Paris, Felicie finds herself in the loving arms of servant Odette, performed brilliantly by singer Carly Rae Jepsen. The sense of mystery that surrounds her character is excellent, was she too once a world famous dancer? The storyline really focuses on a mixture of emotions, love, jealousy, hatred, friendship, kindness and integrity. The animation is gorgeous and really captures the true beauty of Paris. It is believed that the film is set in 1887, due to the incredible landmark of the Eiffel Tower being built, that is shown terrifically through stunning animation. Fantastically educational, suitable for children for all ages. Absolutely magical. A film that is most certain to bring a tear to your eye.
